I just made some SB Customs with SD Customs. The class was wonderful, if you guys are looking to do a 9-5 in terms of creative, definitely check these guys out. You guys can really express yourself in multiple avenues in terms of shoes, clothing, anything. Loved the experience & culture!
Prior to this experience, I never had any customization experience. I've learned so much being in this class. The colorway for my shoe was inspired by the color tone of Blue, which is my favorite color. I really enjoyed this class & would love for anyone to experience the culture!
This is actually my second class, and I ended up making a Supreme & UNC SB Dunk. Like I said, I learned a lot the first time, but I definitely loved & learned a lot more the second time. I really enjoyed the experience, especially with my Pops (Jose), and I really recommend this class to anybody.
I'm Majorwavezz Dad, and I just really wanted to learn how to do it. He's gotta really into customs himself, & I wanted see what I could do. After this class I want to do more now myself. Being retired from the Navy, I learned so much in this class & maybe I can start helping him grow in his business now. Shout out to Rey & the staff, they were so helpful and answered all questions I had.
I came to this class to expand my custom abilities. Everything that I've done here has blown my mind & exceeded my expectations. The whole process was more than what I expected. What I'm going home with is more than custom shoes, I'm going home with my trade, with what I'm trying to expand on. I'm just hoping to come back to another class, you need to come and do this. This is amazing, this has been the greatest experience I have done in a long long time.
I was interning at Majorwavezz Lab & decided to come through with the team and make a shoe! HUGE Shoutout to Rey & the rest of the SDCF Team for having us, it was a great experience & I really appreciate you guys. Everyone was hospitable & the class was a real vibe!
Currently I do custom painted sneakers & you can check out my stuff @customsby_g! I've been doing customs for about a year and a half, really enjoying it and I love what I do. I'd been really wanting to expand into the sneaker reconstruction, and I'd been looking around for a while now to find just the right place to do it and I found @sdcustomfootwear Instagram. I really loved what their message was so I decided to take the course. They look really good! Rey was super chill, super friendly & all the guys were awesome. I had a really great experience & I'm so glad I invested in myself! Definitely do it if you're thinking about it!
"Air Jordan 11 Smoke Grey" The inspiration to my shoe was honestly freestyled, once I saw the sole I had I knew I wanted to use darker colors, saw the suede croc and knew I wanted to use that with the light grey on the mudguard was just for contrast. For the materials, I always wanted to use suede crocodile as suede exotics is are my favorite at the moment. The light grey caiman was just as it looked good with the croc. Lastly, the staff was great very helpful with any question I had. Rey made sure the class was going step by step and explained what we needed to do next very clearly and showed us in most cases before we even did it on our shoe. This was definitely an experience I won't ever forget. Not only to work on one of my favorite shoes of all time, just being around all those creatives was very inspiring. Seeing the studio and the events going on through out the day. For sure a 10/10 experience.
“What the Animal Planet” I love watching those National Geographic/Discovery channel documentaries which portray the beauty of our planet, the animals that inhabit it, and the changes in our ecosystem. I used ostrich, alligator/croc, shark, and this UV-light color changing material. I used these materials because I wanted something different from the overall basic color schemes you see in streetwear. Additionally, I wanted something to capture the overall feel of how beautiful our world is, ever so evolving each day and night. Regarding experience, well quite frankly I had none in the industry other than being a consumer, so I was a bit apprehensive that I would not be able to grasp the skills required to perfect the craft in such a short amount of time, but Rey and the rest of the staff were gracious in giving a helping hand when needed. But, the staff went above and beyond to help me bring my creation to life. They taught the class various skills in the shoe making process such as sewing, skiving, and lasting. Every teacher took their time with each student to help them with every step in the process, giving us ample time to learn and practice each skill. I would recommend this class to anyone that has a desire to broaden their skills as a shoemaker, fashion designer, or just about anyone that wants to see, firsthand, the process of bringing their creative idea to life. This class was an experience I will never forget. Thank you to Rey, Kris, James, Julian, and the rest of the SD Custom Footwear staff for helping me invest in myself.
